WP 1 - Supporting technologies and infrastructure

The main objective of WP 1 is to investigate what kind of systems and technologies shall be developed to maintain the safety of and environmental sustainability of maritime operations in the Euro-Arctic.

The objective is to be achieved through several tasks or research questions including:

The investigation of the specific Arctic challenges with regards to maritime operations (including environmental protection, vessel design and equipment and people).
Investigate how existing designs, technologies, systems, operational models and infrastructure mitigate the challenges identified in task 1 and how they support the overall goal of safety at sea and environmental sustainability.
The last task, based on the previous is to assess how do existing rules and regulations support the overall goal of safety at sea and environmental protection in the Arctic. This task will be undertaken with researchers from other WPs, through case studies.
