Research Interests/Activities in the Winter project:

Line Mathisen is a senior researcher at the Northern Research Institute. Line completed her PhD at UiT autumn 2013, where she specialized in tourism marketing, with a particular emphasis on co-creation of value for tourism firms and tourists in staged tourist experiences. Among her publications are international journal articles in the Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing and in Advances in Hospitality and Leisure. Line has also extensive experience form the tourism sector, particularly within the field of marketing.

Lines research interest is on the guide role, and how guides resources can be used in order to enhance the tourists’ creation of value. Co-creation of value imply that tourism firms have to view the tourists as always co-creators of value during their encounters with the firm. The tourists use the resources made available to them by the tourism firms, i.e. the guide, in order to create/enhance their own experience value. Hence, the guide have to be equipped with the necessary resources to contribute to the co-creation process in a way that enable and motivates the tourists to actively partake in the proposed activity. Through a survey and interviews, delineating both tourists and guides perspectives, Line will investigate what kind of resources are viewed as important for enhancing value and enable co-creation.
