Course contents
The course is based on the abovementioned courses and will therefore have character of case studies. Important elements of the course will be legal issues pertaining to Svalbard and its maritime zones, principles and procedures for the delimitation of overlapping claims of maritime zones in the Arctic, principles of international law pertaining to climate changes to increased exploitation of petroleum and gas and transport of such in the Arctic. The course will also provide insight in special issues in ice-covered areas and comparisons between the legal regimes of Arctic and Antarctic.
Objective of the course
The objective of the course is to provide the students with basic knowledge and insight on the elements of the course, especially be able to understand and apply the knowledge acquired through the previous courses on the topical legal questions.

English.
Teaching methods
The course will be given in form of lectures and seminars of approximately 30 hours.

Assessment methods

The exam consists of a 6 hours written school exam based on the syllabus of the course.

The papers are graded A-E, with F as not passed.
