Emnet er et valgemne for studenter på masterprogrammet i arkeologi. Emnet passer også som støtteemne i sosialantropologi og kan tas som enkeltemne.

FORKUNNSKAPSKRAV: avlagt bachelorgrad i arkeologi Dersom emnet tas som enkeltemne vil forkunnskapskrav være avlagt bachelorgrad i sosialantropologi eller lignende.

Emnet tar for seg sentrale tema i studier om jeger-samlere innen arkeologifaget. Blant annet jeger-samlere som økonomiske aktører, landskapsforståelse, sosial kompleksitet, fangstbasert tamdyrhold, og bruk av jeger-samlere som analoger i arkeologisk tolkning.

Etter bestått emne skal studentene har følgende læringsresultat:

Kunnskaper og forståelse

Studenten skal:

ha innsikt i forskjellige teoretiske perspektiver brukt i arkeologiske studier av jeger-samlere

• ha innsikt i den kryss-kulturelle variasjonen som finnes blant jeger-samlere
• ha innsikt i flere konkrete problemstillinger som står sentralt i arkeologiske studier av jeger-samlere, inkludert økonomi, landskapsbruk og sosiale forhold
• ha forståelse av hvordan kunnskap om jeger-samlere kan brukes i arkeologisk fortolkning og formidling
  
  Ferdigheter
  
  Studenten skal:
• kunne anvende relevante begreper og teoretiske perspektiver for en kritisk drøfting av problemstillinger i jeger-samler arkeologi
  

Undervisningsspråket er norsk. Enkelte seminarer kan gis på engelsk.

Undervisningen består av totalt 20 timer, vanligvis 1 dobbelttime per uke. Innledningsvis gis det en forelesning som gir en overblikk over forskningshistorien. Ut over det vil undervisningen bestå av seminarer, der studentene forbereder og legger frem litteratur til diskusjon hver uke. Faglæreren vil bidra med innspill til litteraturvalg og overordnet diskusjon.

ARBEIDSKRAV
Obligatorisk oppmøte på minst 70 % av undervisningen. Utover det må studenten ha deltatt i minst 2 gruppepresentasjoner i løpet av semesteret, for å kunne fremstille seg til eksamen.

EKSAMEN
Eksamen består av en hjemmeeksamen på 10 - 12 sider (3500 ? 4200 ord) over selvvalgt tema.

Karakterskala fra A-E for bestått og F for ikke bestått.

Studentene inviteres til å ta kontakt med faglærer umiddelbart etter at sensur har falt for å få en begrunnelse for eksamensresultatet.

Det tilbys ikke kontinuasjonseksamen.

Hjemmeeksamen:

Eksamensdato er foreløpig og vil kunne bli endret. Endelig eksamensdato kunngjøres ved oppslag på det enkelte fakultet primo mai for vårsemesteret og primo november for høstsemesteret.

Pensum er på om lag 700 sider. Pensum er å finne i bøker og spesielle kompendier som selges i Universitetsbokhandelen Akademisk Kvarter.
