Fakultet for humaniora, samfunnsvitenskap og lærerutdanning

Emnet er et valgfritt emne for studenter på masterprogrammet i arkeologi. Emnet passer som støtteemne innom fagområdene sosialantropologi, (middelalder)historie, geologi og botanikk. Emnet kan ikke tas som enkeltemne. FORKUNNSKAPSKRAV ARK-2002 Problemløsning i arkeologi eller tilsvarende. ANBEFALTE FORKUNNSKAPER SVF-2005 GIS I og SVF-2006 GIS II. Det er også en fordel med forkunnskap i simpel, grunnleggende statistikk.

ARK-2002 Problemløsning i arkeologi

Emnet gir en innføring i teori og metode som blir brukt i analyse av boplasstruktur. Det tar opp forholdet mellom naturlige og kulturelle formasjonsprosesser, samt atferdsarkeologiske og fortolkningsarkeologiske perspektiver på generering av mønster. Stratigrafisk analyse samt kvalitative og kvantitative metoder for romlig analyse vil også bli gjennomgått. Videre tas det opp funksjonsbestemmelse av boplasser samt analyser av persepsjon av sted og omgivelser. Laboratorieøvelser/seminarer med utstrakt bruk av dataprogram gir erfaring i løsning av analytiske problemer.

Kunnskaper og forståelse

Studenten skal ha:
- Fått en grundig innføring i en rekke avanserte arkeologiske metoder
- Utvidet forståelse av hvordan disse kan bidra til løsning av arkeologiske problemstillinger
- Utvidet forståelse av hvordan arkeologisk kunnskapsproduksjon innebærer komplekse forhold mellom teori, metode, teknikk og empiri

Ferdigheter

Studenten skal kunne:
- Handtere og analysere boplasser på høyere nivå ved hjelp av avanserte utvalgte metoder og dataprogram
- Bruke bi- og multivariate kvantitative metoder og teknikker
- Lab-øvelser bidrar til å gi studenten analytiske ferdigheter videre fram i studiet og som ferdigutdannet arkeolog

Kompetanse

Studenten skal ha:
- Utvidet kompetanse om utvalgte funngrupper
- Dypere forståelse for forholdet teori, metode, teknikk og empiri samt utvidet innsikt i flere sentrale metodefelt i faget. Dette vil gi grunnlag for videre selvstendig studium i arkeologi

Norsk

Undervisningen består av 8 dobbelttimer med forelesninger og 4 dobbelttimer med seminar/laboratorieøvelser.

ARBEIDSKRAV
Obligatorisk deltakelse i de fire seminar/laboratorieøvelser.

Det forventes at studenten møter til undervisningen. Dvs. at undervisning som er gitt i løpet av semesteret også regnes som del av det kunnskapsgrunnlaget studenten prøves i til eksamen.

Studenten kan kun fremstille seg til endelig eksamen, dersom arbeidskravet er godkjent.

EKSAMEN
Eksamen består av en hjemmoppgave på 3500 ord (ca.10 sider). Der brukes karakterskala med A - E for bestått og F for ikke bestått.

Dersom det arrangeres utsatt prøve, tilbys det kontinuasjonseksamen ved karakteren F.

Pensum er på ca. 700 sider.
