Course contents
This course introduces database systems, with emphasis on database design and programming. Concepts covered include data modeling, the relational data model, query languages, functional dependencies and normalization, constraints, and introduction to database management systems.

The language of instruction is English and all of the syllabus material is in English. Examination questions will be given in English, but may be answered either in English or a Scandinavian language.

Lectures: 30, Colloquium: 30, Laboratory: 30. The coursework includes up to 3 written assignments graded Pass/Fail. Oral presentation of the assignments and demonstration of a working system can be claimed. Approved assignments give access to the final written exam.

Exam in the teaching free semester is a 4 hour written exam. To get access to the exam in the teaching free semester the student has to pass all assignments in the course. Letter grades A-F.
