About the course
Practical, cruise.
The course runs each second year and is based upon cruises with FF Helmer Hansen to the waters around Spitsbergen and the Barents Sea. The main subject will be winter ecology of the Arctic Ocean. Research questions relevant to the ARCTOS network will be studied in groups. The course also opens up for individual students to obtain necessary samples for their PhD work. Objectives of the course
Provide the students with insights into scientific sampling methods and sampling protocols.
Teaching methods
The students will carry out their own research projects as part of the cruise. The projects need to be approved by the cruise leader, and needs to be integrated into the general cruise plan.
