    Forskningsinteresser

    Min forskning er fokusert på enzymer, enzymhemmere og strukturproteiner. Disse enzymene og proteinene er normalt involvert i metabolisme, regulering av blodtrykk, utvikling, cellesignalering og den strukturelle integriteten av vev (ekstracellulær matriks). Disse enzymene og proteinene er også involvert i ulike typer av sykdommer slik som kreft, multiple sklerose, artritt og hudsykdommer. Arbeidet er for tilfellet fokusert rundt to hovedgrupper av enzymer, dehydrogenaser og proteinaser. Rensede enzymer studeres for å forstå disse enzymenes virkningsmekanisme, hvordan de kan aktiveres og hemmes, deres substratpreferanser, deres interaksjoner med andre proteiner, rollen til individuelle aminosyrer i katalysen og i interaksjoner med andre molekyler. Vi ser også på uttrykket av disse enzymene i celler og vev for å få en oppfatning om hvordan de reguleres, samt om det er et endret uttrykk av disse enzymene i ulike sykdommer. Målet for våre studier er å generere ny kunnskap som skal kunne brukes til å fremskaffe nye legemidler.
