Saher Tariq is a Senior Engineer in the Department of Computer Science at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, working within the field of healthtech. With a Master's degree in Bioinformatics and seven years of experience in health technology, Saher develops and validates AI-based diagnostic tools in close collaboration with researchers and clinical partners.
Forskningsinteresser
Saher's research centres on computer vision and deep learning for biomedical imaging, with particular interest in generative approaches — GANs and diffusion models — and in detection, tracking, and segmentation tasks applied to radiology and microscopy data. Current work contributes to the Nanovision project and to AI-assisted semen analysis, including a first-author study on joint detection and tracking of sperm for improving motility analysis, alongside a co-authored publication. Earlier industry work produced diagnostic systems for breast cancer detection, chest X-ray disease classification, and arterial stenosis and occlusion detection in CT angiography — several progressing toward regulatory clearance — and contributed to achieving ISO 13485 certification, reflecting an interest in translating research models into validated, deployable clinical tools.
