Study of Atmospheric Icing on Structures in the High North discussed at meeting in Narvik

During October 1th and 2th, UiT held the Fifth International of the SIU project: Study of Atmospheric Icing on Structures in the High North and related activities to this project.

This project is an international cooperation project between Chongqing University, CQU and UiT The Arctic University of Norway.

Professor Jiang Xingliang from Chongqing University held a public lecture titled “Icing formation and ice prevention on top grid equipment” during the visit in Narvik. 


The meeting started with the welcoming of our guests by Vice Dean of Research, Raymond Kristiansen. During the visit, we have the great opportunity of having a public lecture given by Prof. Jiang Xingliang, titled “Icing formation and ice prevention on top grid equipment”.

Professor Jiang Xingliang is from Chongqing University, China. He received his Ms and PhD in 1988 and 1997, respectively. He has been working on atmospheric icing for 30 years. Currently, he is the Chair of International Advisory Committee Workshop on Atmospheric Icing on Structures.

He has published over 300 papers and 3 books in this field. He obtained the first national scientific and technological awards from the central government. In 2017, he won The Masoud Farzaneh Award.
