STE6246-001 Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Agents - Introduction - 5 ECTS

Admission requirements

A relevant undergraduate bachelor Engineering programme with minimum 30 credits Mathematics/statistics topics.

Required prerequisite knowledge: SMN6192 Discrete mathematics with game- and graph theory

Course content

Introducing classical techniques within the area "artificial intelligence". Architecture in KBS using these techniques. Implementation of knowledge using symbolic language. "Pattern recognition". Knowledge in organizations and in individuals. KBS for diagnostics, finding errors, design and planning. Use of artificial intelligence in knowledge based language systems. Development of knowledge bases. Application of knowledge bases in knowledge management. Handling of uncertainty. Extraction and modeling of knowledge. Intelligent explanatory mechanisms. Intelligent agents and simple robots. Data mining and discovery of new knowledge in databases and text. Systems for knowledge sharing and reuse.

Objectives of the course

On completion of the course, the successful student is expected to have the following:
  •     Knowledge: Basic knowledge and expertise knowledge concerning challenging jobs in research and industri-al development. Know how to analyse problems and apply the knowledge at new areas. (K1) Special knowledge within the field of artificial intelligence. (K3)
  •     Skills: Working independently with problems, being able to analyse problems, and make plans for solv-ing them. (S1)
  •     General competence: Can communicate about some specialized academic issues, analysis and conclusions, with spe-cialists and the general public, by using relevant terminology. (GC2)

Grading will be done by using A-F grading scale, F is Fail. A re-sit exam will be arranged for this course.
