Internasjonalt seminar: Climate Change and Conflict - Security in a changing world

How do climate change and resource depletion affect the co-existence of people?

Global climate change is the biggest challenge facing humanity today and its consequences, such as rising sea-levels, extreme weather patterns and drought, all threaten states and communities in different ways. These consequences are only predicted to intensify in the years to come, thus making security an increasingly central aspect of the climate change issue.

  • How do climate change and resource depletion affect the co-existence of people, communities and states?
  • How do we define a climate conflict and does any such conflicts exist today?
  • How is the threat from climate change perceived in terms of human security?
