Introductory GIS course (1 day)

Welcome to a 1-day introductory course in ArcGIS!

The course is arranged in connection with the GIS seminar and workshop hosted by ARC - Arctic Centre for Sustainable Energy.

The course is an introduction to the fundamental concepts of GIS technology and geographic data. The course is appropriate for beginners with little or no prior GIS experience, and we will use ArcGIS Online. We will use a mix of lectures, demonstrations, and tasks that the course participants will work with themselves.

You will learn to:

  • Identify data that fits in a map project
  • Creating a map, adding data and displaying map functions in an appropriate way
  • Sharing data, maps and other content within your organisation
  • Carrying out spatial analyses to acuire information about the functionality in the map

 

The course is open to UiT employees and students.Note that there is a limited number of spaces, and that the registration is binding. The course is free of charge and lunch will be provided. You do not have to bring your own computer.
