Haldde mountain top is appointed by European Physical Society (EPS) as an EPS Historic Site, the first of its kind in Norway. We mark this by unveiling a plaque at the mountain top on the same day as Haldde march is taking place, Sunday August 26. This is a great opportunity to hike the Haldde march and simultaneously participate in celebrating Haldde mountain top soas the first EPS Historic Site in Norway, the place where the first Auroral Observatory in the world was built.

This is a good opportunity for a good long hike of 2-4 hours up and a little bit shorter down again.
Driving there takes about 6 hours.

If you use your own car, you can park by the nearby church. According to Alta municipality it is also fine to park along the roadside. It is about a 10 min drive by taxi from center of town, Taxi can be reached at tlf. 784 35353 (Alta Taxi), if you are not driving your own car.
