In this brownbag seminar we will discuss the role of water scarcity in violent conflict with PhD Candidate Stefan Döring.
Stefan is a PhD candidate at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University. He is member of the Research School on Water Cooperation, which is part of the International Centre for Water Cooperation (UNESCO) hosted by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). His work focuses on the role of water scarcity in violent conflict as well as cooperation. Using both statistical and qualitative methods, his research employs geo-referenced data for violent conflict events and various measures for water quality and quantity. He is especially interested in studying the use of groundwater for small communities. Stefan recently finished a visiting researcher stay with UN Environment in Nairobi and is currently a visiting researcher with the Peace Research Institute in Oslo.
