Kvikklunsj with Anniken Greve on Hannah Arendt

Hannah Arendt on Thinking: A Short Introduction and Some Suggestions

Hannah Arendt (1906-1975) is most famous for her book Eichmann in Jerusalem (1963) and the concept “the banality of evil.” In The Life of the Mind (1978) she gives a richer philosophical background for her analysis of Eichmann: her conception of thinking. In my talk I will introduce you to Arendt’s thoughts on thinking, with a view to bringing out some connections between thinking and moral life. I will also suggest some ways in which we might find her conception of thinking useful in our own work. The talk will be organised around quotes, so no reading is required to attend the seminar.
