Yoga / meditasjon


 

A weekly program on Thursdays open to all students and staff.  Let go of a little stress. Let in a little breathing space.  Move into your day!

Dates for the first series:  Thursday Jan.25, Feb.1, Feb.8, Feb.15, and Feb.22  

Time: 9.00 to 9.30 (yoga) and 9.30-10.00 (meditation)

Place: Stille rom (Quiet Room in Teorifagbygget Hus 1)

 

Instructors: Laura Castor (ISK and Certified Yoga Instructor Vinyasa Style [Yoga Alliance] 200 hrs): Yoga and meditation; Gunhild Svalastog (Studentprest): Meditation.

 

Instruction in English (LC) and Norwegian (GS).

For yoga (9:00-9.30): Sign up by Feb.1 to reserve a place for some or all of the sessions (Limited to 10 participants). Contact laura.castor@uit.no. For meditation (9.30-10.00): No registration required.

 

-We practice light vinyasa yoga, folding in some qigong and medi-yoga inspired exercises. We practice Shamatha (“calm abiding” breath awareness) or Zazen style meditation. 

-Sessions are free and beginners are welcome.

--If you have your own yoga mat, feel free to bring it. Please let me know if you need to borrow a mat.

--Wear loose-fitting clothes for easy yoga movement.

--A changing room and storage space is available in “Rekvisitet,” the room just inside the main room.

 

Directions: Enter Teorifagbygget by the door nearest the large cantine, and walk straight toward the coffee bar. Turn left before you enter the corridor to the other sections of the building.  Stille rom is on the right.
