Course content
For students interested in algebra, algebraic geometry or closely related areas. Covers affine and projective varieties, coordinate rings, Hilbert Nullstellensatz, Gröbner bases, dimension theory of varieties.

Objectives of the course
The candidate shall:
obtain solod knowledge in the theory of affine and projective varieties.
obtain background in the algorithmic solution of polynomial equations, in particular the theory of Gröbner bases
be be able to solve concrete problems in the topics mentioned above
Language of instruction and examination
The language of instruction and the syllabus is English. Examination questions will be given in English, but may be answered either in English or a Scandinavian language.

One oral exam counting 100%.
Assessment scale: Letter grades A-F.
