Integrative Bioinformatics and Biomathematical Modelling
Current biological approaches generate large sets of sequencing data. These data need to be analysed and put into their biological context. Beside standard sequence analysis techniques, we integrate these data together with low throughput data and results from targeted experiments into mathematical modelling approaches. Our goal is to better understand molecular mechanisms of complex biological processes.
Although, we receive and analyse data from nearly all kingdoms of life. development of algorithms and bioinformatic analysis pipelines are mainly directed towards the analysis of higher eukaryotes.
The main research focus of our modeling approaches is currently the interaction between metabolism and signaling, especially in the context of biological rhythms. In this context, we perform iterative modeling experimental approaches in close interaction with experimental groups to better understand the dynamic interaction between metabolic processes and signal transduction pathways.
