Co-determination

Co-determination for employees is exercised through mutual exchange of information, discussions, and negotiations between the employee organizations and the employer.

Information, discussion and negotiations (IDF)

The IDF meeting is an important overarching collaborative body between the management and employee representatives at UiT. Employee representatives and representatives of the rector meet regularly for information sharing, discussions, and negotiations as stipulated by the Basic Agreement in the state sector. IDF meetings are held monthly and prior to the university board meetings.

Employees' right to co-determination is regulated by the Basic Agreement in the state sector. Co-determination is exercised through employee representatives. The Basic Agreement is entered into between the state and the main unions representing state employees. Its purpose is to establish the best possible foundation for cooperation between the parties at all levels.

On behalf of the employer, the Rector/Director of Organization and Finance or their deputies attend the meetings, while representatives from Akademikerne, Unio, LO Stat, and YS Stat attend on behalf of the employees.

Information and consultation meetings (ID)

Co-determination at the units is exercised in information and consultation meetings (ID meetings) through information exchange and discussions between the employer and the employee organizations' representatives. At the operational units, ID meetings with the representatives of the employee organizations should be held at least once per semester. The parties agree that meetings will be held prior to board meetings.
