Earth Observation
The Earth Observation (EO) Laboratory is a research unit within the Department of Physics and Technology at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. We conduct research in the field of satellite remote sensing applied to Earth observation. Our main focus is on the analysis of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images, as well as the development of image analysis tools based on polarimetry, advanced statistics, pattern recognition and signal processing techniques.
The EO-group is also the host and a key research partner of CIRFA, a Centre for Research-based Innovation (SFI in Norwegian) whose objective is "to create knowledge, methods and technologies, which are a prerequisite for environmentally safe industrial operations in the Arctic. The research conducted in CIRFA will contribute to improved understanding of important geophysical processes, better monitoring capabilities, and better forecasting in the Arctic."
We offer a selection of interesting Master's projects in Earth observation.
All vacant positions in the EO-group, including PhD projects, are advertised on Jobbnorge.
