Incoming exchange students: important tasks before departing your country

 

After you have completed your application by uploading all the required documents and received a formal Letter of Acceptance from UiT, there are several tasks you must complete yourself:

Accept or decline your offer of admission (Letter of Acceptance)

You must accept your offer by the deadline in the Application Web (Søknadsweb), starting from the date you received this notification. If you do not respond in time, your offer will expire.

Important: Your enrolment as a student at UiT depends on whether you accept or decline your offer. Please do not make any travel arrangements to Norway before confirming your acceptance.

⚠️ Important:
Make sure to download and bring your Letter of Acceptance with you to Norway. You will need it to register with the local police.

Accept or decline your housing offer

You must log in to the Housing Office’s application portal to accept or decline your room offer by the deadline stated in your housing contract or in the email notification you received.

Accident and health insurance

UiT The Arctic University of Norway does not provide insurance for accident, liability, health, or travel. All international students must arrange adequate insurance coverage before departure and/or arrival in Norway, including:
  • Theft and loss
  • Illness and liability
  • Emergency travel home (e.g. due to serious illness or force majeure)

Activate your IT user account

You must activate your user account to access student IT services and support at UiT.

You will receive an email titled “Aktivere UiT brukerkonto – Activate UiT user account”, containing a link to the activation page. Please read the email carefully and follow the instructions: (1) Click “Activate account”, (2) Then select “Cannot use ID-porten”. If you cannot find the email in your inbox, please check your spam folder.

How to submit your digital/online Learning Agreement (only Erasmus+ students)

Please contact your Erasmus Officer or the International Office at your home university and use the following information to submit your Digital/Online Learning Agreement:

Studentweb: access to approved courses and semester registration


IMOPORTANT NOTICE

Once your username account is activated, you will be able to access the following services using your username and password. Please note that access may take between 20 minutes and 24 hours to become available.


STUDENTWEB

  • Access your approved courses (course-based exchange).
  • Register for classes and examinations.
  • Update your contact details (including your semester address in Norway).
  • Download important documents such as your Letter of Acceptance.
  • View your class timetable.
  • Access your final transcript of records after completing your exchange studies at UiT

Accessing your approved courses in the Studentweb

To view your enrolled courses:

  1. Log in to Studentweb
  2. Click on “My active courses” in the top menu

Important documents

After enrolment, you can only download your Letter of Acceptance and other supporting documents from Studentweb. You will no longer have access to the Application Web (Søknadsweb).

To download your documents:

  1. Click on “More” in the top menu
  2. Select “Documents”

On this website, you can check your course schedules and book rooms for meetings:

How to use the Timetable

  1. Go to the website and click on “Course” under the “Timetables” section.
  2. You will be redirected to a new page.
  3. In the field labeled “Choose course”, enter the course code (e.g., BIO-3503).
  4. To view multiple courses at once, add additional course codes in the top field.
  5. Click on “Show weekly timetable” on the right side of the page to see your full schedule.

Canvas (Virtual Classroom)

Canvas is a web-based learning platform that allows students to access course materials from any device with internet access. It is used by instructors to share notes, assignments, presentations, guidance, and other resources with their classes.
