About SAMINOR

SAMINOR is a large survey on that collects information about the health and living conditions of the population through interviews, questionnaires, and clinical examinations. It is one of the most important sources of knowledge about the health of the Sámi population and the rural populations of Northern and Central Norway.

The SAMINOR surveys visit municipalities where the population historically has Sámi, Kven, and Norwegian affiliations. See where we have been with SAMINOR 3 here: Travel Blogs

SAMINOR has a particular focus on the health of the Sámi population. The Indigenous perspective makes SAMINOR a unique database both nationally and internationally. At the same time, the Kven and Norwegian-Finnish populations, recognized as one of Norway's national minorities, are also included.

The Centre for Sámi Health Research (CSHR) is responsible for the survey and collaborates with research groups in Indigenous communities in Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark/Greenland, and Sweden.
