The Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology research group uses a combination of experimental and theoretical methods to study molecular mechanism of drugs and toxic substances, and to identify new compounds with a putative therapeutic potential.
Our research group has the responsibility for coordinating teaching in pharmacology and toxicology at all study programmes at the Faculty of Health Sciences except for pharmacy (Kurt Kristiansen). The scientific staff connected to the teaching unit mainly teach basic pharmacology with a focus on the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of drug groups, but also some clinical pharmacology (medicine year 4 and 6). We also teach basic toxicology in several study programmes at UiT.
