ImAgE-Ds fifth network meeting concludes!
The conclusion of ImAgE-Ds fifth network meeting in Braga on the 29th of April 2026 marked the end of another successful ImAgE-D and (the final) DeLIVERy event.
For the very first time, the project consortium came together in full force, with all 10 doctoral candidates attending in person. The event took place at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory in Braga, Portugal and was hosted by our colleagues Prof. Pieter DeBeule and Manisha Chatterjee.
The meeting was opened on Monday 27 April by the host, Prof. Pieter DeBeule, and the head of the ImAgE-D project, Prof. Peter McCourt. As has been the case at our previous events, the first day was primarily devoted to the training and professional development of our 10 DCs, with courses in Securing continued research funding, Entrepreneurship, Microfluidics and Optofluidics: specific in-vitro model development using the CubiX platform, Intellectual property rights and Patent politics, exploitation of results.
The second day of the meeting was devoted entirely to our DCs, who each had 30 minutes to present their work - with more remarkable results - and progress to the assembled consortium and receive feedback from colleagues from a wide variety of backgrounds. The day was rounded off by two guest lecturers from the Université catholique de Louvain and the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science.
Thanks to the enthusiastic and fantastic support from Kajangi Gnanachandran and Arkajyoti Sarkar, our DCs were also invited to a personal interview, during which they were able to speak freely about their experiences, working methods and progress. We will, of course, be publishing the content of these fascinating interviews here on our website, so stay tuned!
Day three was entirely devoted to the close collaboration with the EU-funded DEliverY project, which was due to be concluded following this meeting. This involved a series of presentations sharing the findings and insights from both projects, before the day drew to a close with a tour of the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory and, to round things off, a surfing workshop in Esposende a small city at the Atlantic coast.
