Research Group for Human Rights and International Law

About us

The Research Group for Human Rights and International Law brings together junior and senior scholars working in the fields of human rights and international law at the Faculty of Law at UiT in Tromsø. The group creates an arena for discussion and exchange of ideas, academic network-building and cooperation.

The group organizes academic seminars and conferences on topical issues of human rights and international law. Recent examples include international seminars on law and disinformation (2024) and developments in the law of state immunity (2025). The group also hosts visiting researchers working on legal issues of interest to group members.

Members of the group frequently cooperate on publications and research projects with researchers from other UiT departments and universities in Norway and abroad. The group is actively involved in dissemination of research-based knowledge, and its members often participate in public discussions on burning issues of human rights and international law.
