The Clinical Bioinformatics Research Group is concentrated on the bioinformatic analysis of genetic and epigenetic data, with a specific focus on inflammatory processes.  Inflammation is a transient process under normal circumstances. However, in many chronic conditions, the inflammatory response leads to significant tissue and organ damage. Chronic inflammation is linked to many illnesses, including ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, type 2 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus, among others. Chronic inflammatory diseases place a huge burden on both patients and the health care system.
