Precision medicine approaches for inflammatory-driven diseases
Uncovering disease and patient-specific molecular mechanisms hidden behind common inflammatory responses.
With more than 50% of all deaths being linked to inflammation, chronic inflammatory illnesses have been identified as the leading cause of death in the world today. The project aims to increase the fundamental understanding of the molecular events during inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and improve the individualized treatment of patients, with a particular focus on Rheumatoid Arthritis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, diabetes, and atherosclerosis. We will isolate common, disease, and individual-specific signatures in these ailments, and apply advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence methodologies to better define their molecular signatures. The results may apply to other autoimmune or inflammatory conditions.
