PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
Master in
International fisheries manage-
ment
is a multidisciplinary study within
fisheries management and aquaculture.
The study offers a basic background in
biology, economics and administration, all
related to fisheries and aquaculture. The
possibility of choosing your own master
thesis gives you the opportunity to adjust
the study according to individual interests,
which in turn has proved efficient on the
labor market. The students may specialize
in biology, economics or administration or
a combination. The study is designed as an
international programme with students from
all over the world.
1st and 2nd semester:
• Fisheries biology and harvest technology
• Resource economics and project
evaluation
• A social science perspective on fisheries
management and development
• Fisheries ecology
• Fisheries economics
• Fisheries profiles
3rd and 4th semester:
• Fisheries planning and development
• Model theory and data processing
methods
• Fisheries Management
• Master’s Thesis
JOB OPpORTUNITIES
Students work within the fisheries and
aquaculture sector, or in related industries.
Some are also working within research.
LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION AND
EXAMINATION
The language of the study program is
English. This will apply to teaching, syllabus
material and examinations questions,
although the latter may be answered either
in English or a Scandinavian language.

BESKRIVELSE AV STUDIET
Studiet spenner over de fleste områder av
norsk og internasjonal fiskeri- og havbruks-
næring. Valg av studieretning kombinert
med den selvvalgte masteroppgaven gjør
hver enkelt students kompetanse spesiell
og attraktiv på arbeidsmarkedet. Fullført
studium gir kandidater rett til å kalle seg
fiskerikandidat – en kjent og velrennomert
tittel innen marine næringer i Norge.
Du kan velge mellom flere spesiali-
seringer:
• Ressursforvaltning
• Havbruk
• Sjømat
• Ledelse, innovasjon og marked
JOBBMULIGHETER
Siden starten av studiet har mer enn 600
fiskerikandidater blitt uteksaminert fra
Norges fiskerihøgskole. Disse er spredt over
hele verden – fra Japan i sørøst til Grønland
i nordvest – i jobber innen produksjon, salg,
marked, forskning, undervisning og ledelse.
