Andrea Mannberg  –  Professor

Andrea Mannberg is a professor in economics at the School of Business and Economics at UiT the Arctic University of Norway. Mannberg is principal investigator of the 4 year research project – The risks we take and the life we make – effects of positional preferences and bounded rationality on risk-taking behavior – funded by the Norwegian Research Council. The project is cross-disciplinary collaboration with researchers at CARE, e.g., Audun Hetland, Markus Landrø and Rune Engeset, and with international partners: Professor Jordy Hendrikx and Professor Jerry D. Johnson at Snow and Avalanche Lab, Montana State University, and professor Tomas Sjögren at School of Business and Economics, Umeå University. The project has three work packages (WP:s). WP 1 focuses on how social identification and the desire to gain social status is related to willingness to take risks, and WP 2 focuses on how incidental emotions affect the ability to evaluate risk and the tendency to engage in risk-taking behavior. The final work package, WP 3, aims to evaluate how trends in avalanche hazard affects perceived danger and behavior in avalanche terrain.

Transforming the way we think about diversity

The first COMICA workshop invited UiT employees to use humour and comics to tell stories about diversity in their own workplace. 

COMICA Workshop in August

We are pleased to announce an upcoming workshop organized as part of the ongoing activities of our research group.

20th August, from 9 to 12, UiT campus (Tromsø)

COMICA invites UiT employees to reflect critically on their own experiences, question dominant narratives, and explore new perspectives on what diversity means in academic spaces.

At this workshop we will:  

• Learn how we can use comics to represent, reflect on, and, not least, laugh about our academic work environment.
• Experiment with your own characters and narratives.
• Create new stories about diversity (roles, gender, generations, cultures, and more).
