During the last two decades, our research group has participated in SWENOTECA (Swedish-Norwegian Testicular Cancer Research Group) with high-quality, high-impact population-based studies with a considerable impact on treatment and follow-up of testicular cancer patients in Europe. SWENOTECA currently recruit patients with seminoma (subgroup of testicular cancer) stage I patients into a randomized clinical trial. In addition, all patients with testicular cancer who give their consent are included in prospective bi-national studies.
Four PhD candidates from our group have defended their thesis on topics related to testicular cancer or lymphoma survivorship issues. These projects have resulted in important new knowledge about long-term effects after cancer treatment which are integrated in international follow-up guidelines as well as survivorship clinics. Two post-doctoral positions have been working with a project focusing on long-term effects after radical treatment of prostate cancer, with an ongoing prospective study collecting patient-reported outcomes before and after radical radiotherapy.
A large, ongoing Scandinavian collaboration related to health issues among about 14 000 Scandinavian testicular cancer survivors and their offspring is currently led by members of our research group.
