Citizens’ feedback to managing COVID-19 in a rural arctic municipality

In order of being better prepared for future pandemics or other crises, Vestvågøy municipality decided to conduct a public survey about the corona pandemic in June 2022. A self-report survey was prepared based on the research question: How do citizens in a Norwegian rural arctic municipality experience own coping and the municipality’s management during the Covid-19 pandemic?

The survey was linked to an exhibition, presenting a timeline of the pandemic period, with descriptive text and clips from local newspapers. In June-October 2022, the exhibition was presented, and the survey was performed both physically, in the city hall, the culture centre, the high school, a shopping mall, and digitally, on the municipality website and in social media. Data was analyzed using thematic analyzis (Braun & Clarke, 2006).
