Lightweight&Heavyweight IT is an evaluation project related to the implementation of the Medanet app and DIPS Arena EHR at Nordland Hospital. The goal is to explore opportunities and challenges in the socio-technical interaction when lightweight technology (Medanet's App) is integrated with a new open heavyweight platform (DIPS Arena). DIPS Arena is developed in accordance with the openEHR architecture. In principle, the openEHR architecture should enable other vendors to develop lightweight IT, such as apps, based on openEHR, which can be integrated with DIPS Arena, providing a semantically interoperable infrastructure crucial for increased patient safety and treatment quality. However, there is limited knowledge about this form of semantic infrastructure and the opportunities and challenges that arise from technical integration. The research project is led by the National Center for e-Health Research (NSE).
