Preparedness and Public Health Resilience (PREP) at UiT is a newly established research group focusing on preparedness and public health in the North. In an uncertain time, marked by geopolitical tensions, uncertainties, and climate change, PREP provides scientifically based knowledge to support preparedness – relevant for public administration, policy-making, and general health promotion.
Anchored in ISM’s strong research environment in population-based studies, community medicine, nutritional epidemiology, and occupational health, PREP investigates the connections between food, nutrition, public health, and preparedness in Northern Norway. Through the Resilient North project, the group also collaborates with research environments studying food production in the North from both land and sea, as well as governance perspectives.
With this expertise, PREP develops knowledge to strengthen resilience, helping society become better prepared for change, challenges, and crises – thereby strengthening public health.
