Antisense delivery to Atlantic salmon eggs for large scale sterilization
The proposed project is a vital element in a long-term strategy to produce non-GMO sterile fish and thus production of solely sterile eggs would prevent uncontrolled propagation of genetic material.
The project focuses on a new method for large scale sterile egg production through anti sense oligos (ASOs). As the molecular targets and the proof of method were established within the previous Salmosterile project, here emphasis will be on solving the bottle neck of delivering optimal concentrations of ASOs into eggs to achieve 100 % sterility.
