Anonymous Bluetooth-Based Skier Traffic Monitoring
To prevent avalanche accidents more effectively, we need a clear picture of where and when people actually travel in avalanche-prone terrain. Today, this kind of overview is largely missing. In this measure, we will improve solutions that can estimate traffic volumes anonymously—using Bluetooth-based counters—to produce high-quality, privacy-preserving data without collecting personal information. These data provide a practical foundation for better planning and targeted safety measures, and for more effective communication to users (e.g., improved guidance and timely warnings when conditions are critical).
