The purpose of the project is: to be a coordinated and common professional R&D-effort, to instigate research as a strategy, and to enhance and strengthen the self-understanding of the field of drama/theatre.
The project brings together the various research communities of the Norwegian Association of Higher Education Institutions (the UHR-sector) and is realised through traditional research projects, practice-led research and pedagogical development work. Art, research and pedagogy are balanced knowledge arenas representing different epistemological forms. They are all important parts of a whole when research results are generated and disseminated via practice and theory. The ambition to elucidate drama/theatre across institutional borders is an innovative approach constituting a paradigmatic shift intersecting art and education. A consolidated drama/theatre field finds this to be a necessary measure in order to illuminate and assess the distinctive character of theatre.
The umbrella project comprises six thematic groups (clusters): education and schooling, marginality, health, for and with young children, site specific, arts-based research.
