Chronic pain
Within the research group, researchers from UNN and UiT collaborate. The research includes acute and chronic pain and focuses on the effect of various treatment programs, post-surgical pain in a general population (The Tromsø Study), brain health and pain tolerance in a general population (The Tromsø Study), relationship between pain, gender and bio-psycho-social conditions (Pain registry data) and possible central nervous mechanisms for some pain conditions (Complex regional pain syndrome, phantom limb pain, and cervicogenic headache).
The group supervises two PhD students and one student in the Student Research Program and has guided several medical students in the master project.
During the past years the research group has also established a valuable collaboration with Finnmarkssykehuset and researchers at the Department of Psychology at UiT with expertise also in Neuroimaging.
In collaboration with Norwegian pain clinics and under support from the Norwegian Pain Network (https://www.smertenettverkehr.no/), we have access to a large quality register that is available for future research projects.
