Trondheim

The Trondheim network group

NordForsk kvit logo

The group at NTNU in Trondheim is one of three Norwegian nodes in the ScanDiaSyn network. It has a particular responsibility for charting the characteristics of central Norwegian dialects (‘trøndersk’). The members of the group are the following:

Tor A. Åfarli, Professor (leader)
Kristin Melum Eide, Associate Professor (co-manager)
• Marianne Anderson, MA student
Pål Kristian Eriksen, NORMS researcher
Fufen Jin, postdoc
Randi Alice Nilsen, Associate Professor
Mari Nygård, PhD student
• André Reite, MA student
• Leiv Inge Aa, PhD student

Åfarli is also the leader of the NORMS thematic group on subject types, in which Nygård participates too. The two organized a workshop for this group in Trondheim in August 2006 and another one in september 2008. Eide is the leader of the NORMS thematic group on auxiliary verbs and modality where also Eriksen is a member. Nilsen, Aa, and Åfarli participate in the NORMS thematic group on verbal particles.

In September 2009 Eide and Eriksen organized a three day NORMS fieldwork on the Fosen peninsula.

The group has previously carried out some theoretical work on the nature of microparametric variation (Åfarli, Eide). Members of the group constantly participate in workshops/conferences, and they produce papers/articles singly or jointly. Two master’s theses have been produced lately within the field of microcomparative syntax (Lena Kildal Skaalbones 2006, Eldfrid Haaker Fjøsne 2007).
