TEK-2802 Prefabricated Concrete Structures for Healthy and Sustainable Built-Environment - 5 stp

The course is administrated by

Fakultet for ingeniørvitenskap og teknologi

Type of course

Can be taken as a single subject. Minimum students are 5.

Course begins on the 2nd of March 2026 and ends on the 3rd of April 2026.

Course contents

This is an upper-level course that will cover such topics as basic concepts of sustainability, energy auditing, green and sustainable materials, and life-cycle frameworks for sustainability. The course also focuses on the application of the concept of sustainability to the management of energy, water, and waste. Students will demonstrate key knowledge in sustainability by conducting a life-cycle assessment (LCA) project.

Admission requirements

A relevant undergraduate Bachelor Engineering program with minimum 25 credits mathematics, 5 credits statistics, 7,5 credits physics

Recommended prerequisites: Basic knowledge in chemistry and physics

Objective of the course

By the end of the course the student will be expected to be able to:

1) Identify the common construction material used in concrete structures

2) Critically evaluate mechanics underlying the design code

3) Perform structural design by using mathematics, mechanics and structural analysis tools

4) Design structural elements following design codes and engineering practices independently

5) Solve practical design problems with uncertainties.
