Course contents
This course deals with current and general scientific and legal topics and issues, such as the nature and role of legal science and fundamental issues related to legal science.
Objective of the course
After passing the course, the student will have acquired knowledge about fundamental scientific concepts and traditions, about legal science as a scientific topic and tradition and about various legal science traditions. Each student will be able to formulate issues of relevance to their PhD project. Moreover, the course contributes to developing the student to participate in academic discussions nationally as well as internationally.
Language of instruction
The language of instruction varies between Norwegian and English depending on the participants.
Teaching methods
The teaching consists of discussions in seminar form over a two-day period.
Attendance and active participation in the teaching are compulsory. The term active participation means that the students attempt to link the various themes raised to their own projects and explain this.
In addition, it is expected that all the students present articles for discussion during the seminar teaching, in line with the guidelines for the reading seminar.
