Course contents
This course showcases well-being at work from a positive work and organizational psychology perspective. After having introduced basic concepts and processes, we study the beneficial and undesirable effects of resources in organizations. Taking a multilevel perspective, we focus on resources at the person, interindividual, and organizational level. Specifically, we are shedding light on the following resources:
- Psychological capital
- Humor at work
- Psychological safety in teams
- Leadership styles
- Organizational recovery culture
We will draw on theoretical and empirical research to discuss these resources’ antecedents, consequences, boundary conditions, and mediating processes.
Objective of the course
Successful completion of the course will lead to the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge:
Students will learn to
- Apply advanced knowledge on occupational health psychology to practical issues
- Integrate specialized insights regarding the associated factors and mechanisms of work resources, which are the foundation of health-related interventions in organizations as well as psycho-social well-being of employees
Skills
Students will develop in their skills to
- Analyze and deal critically with scientific evidence and apply it to structure and formulate scholarly arguments and derive applications
- Communicate orally on a professional level
