The course is mandatory in the psychology bachelor program.The course can be taken as a singular course
Course contents
Social psychology focuses on how individuals relate to each other and how social and cultural factors influence individuals. Central topics of this course are social behaviour (e.g., social influence, aggression, prosocial behaviour), social cognition (e.g., social perception, attitudes, attitude change, prejudice) and implications of behaviour and thinking for one's self-concept (e.g., self-knowledge and self-justification).

Objective of the course
After completing the course the student should be able to:
- Define and describe key concepts within social psychology.
- Explain how social factors (e.g., the presence of other people) affect individuals' thought, affect, and behavior.
- Understand the methods of how social psychological research is conducted.
Language of instruction
English.
Both the exam and coursework assignment may be written in either english or norwegian.
Teaching methods
Teaching will mainly consist of lectures. Importantly, the course includes additional requirements to get permission to the exam (see Coursework requirements).
