Course contents

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and lung diseases, are some of the leading causes of death worldwide.

This course will address the pathophysiology of- and the association between overweight and obesity, and the NCDs diabetes and cardovascular diseases, as well as mental- and oral health. Further, we will examine the evidence-based role of diet/nutrition in the prevention and treatment of these diseases/conditions.

The course will provide a foundation for critically evaluating different weigth reduction methods, and the students will conduct a diet experiment to gain experience in the matter. Further, the students will develop communication skill through practical exercises and learn to apply the Nutrition Care Process and communication methods. The course also includes a mandatory observational practice.
