Course contents
The course will prove an introduction to modelling and analysis of dynamical systems.
- Modelling of discrete and distributed component systems.
- Frequency and time-response analysis
- Stability analysis
- Vibration analysis
- Modelling and analysis in MATLAB and Simulink.
Application deadline
Applicants from countries within EU/EEA: June 1st for the autumn semester and December 1st for the spring semester.
Exchange students and Fulbright students: 1 October for the spring semester and 15 April for the autumn semester
Admission requirements
A relevant undergraduate Bachelor Engineering program with minimum 25 credits mathematics, 5 credits statistics, 7,5 credits physics
Prerequisite(s)
Bachelor in engineering.
A course which in content corresponds to Matematikk 3 and Mekanikk 1.

Objective of the course
On completion of the course the successful student is expected to have the following:
Knowledge
- has some knowledge of some theories and methods in the field of master of science (K2)
- can apply knowledge to some areas within the academic field of numerical and analytical calculations, computations, systematic design process, computational methods, engineering design (K3)
Skills
- can analyze some existing theories, and interpretations in the field of master of science and work independently on practical and theoretical problems (S2)
General competence
- can apply knowledge and skills within master of science in new areas in order to carry out advanced assignments and projects (GC2)
- can communicate about academic issues, analyses and conclusions in the field of master of science, both with specialists and the general public (GC4)

Assessment
Mandatory tasks: Hand-in of selected assignments.
Assessment methods: 3 hours written exam.
Grading will be done by using A-F grading scale, F is Fail. A re-sit exam will be arranged for this course.
