Type of course

The course is an integrated part of the IFM programme, but can be taken as a singular course.

Course contents

The course focuses on marine planning and challenges related to this. Based on theories of marine planning, these challenges will be discussed, especially in relation to fisheries and aquaculture development and activities. The course will offer common practical tools used in marine spatial planning and fisheries management plans.

Application deadline

Applicants from Nordic countries: 1 June for the autumn semester and 1. Exchange students and Fulbright students: 15 April for the autumn semester.

The course is an integrated part of the IFM program, but is also open for single course students with relevant background. Entrance requirements as for the M.Sc. program in International Fisheries Management.

Language of instruction

The language of instruction and all syllabus material is English.

Teaching methods

Lectures, seminars, presentations, case studies and written assignment.

Assessment

One-week home exam. The grading scale is A-F, where F is fail.

Coursework requirements:

All work requirements must be fulfilled before you can sit for the final exam.

re-sit exam will be arranged in the next semester.

The date for the exam can be changed. The final date will be announced at your faculty early in May and early in November.
