INF-8207 Advanced mHealth systems and applications - 10 stp

This course is available for registered PhD students in computer science or equivalent at a university. The course is given according to capacity and demand.

Course contents

This course covers advanced principles of mHealth (mobile health) systems and applications. The course addresses classic principles for design and implementation of mHealth systems and applications and discusses emerging mHealth trends from the international research front. Particularly, the following topics will be addressed:

PhD students in science at UiT go directly to Studentweb to register for class and exam. Others need to apply, and be granted admission prior to register for class and exam.


Admission requirements

Admission requirements: PhD students or holders of a Norwegian master´s degree of five years or 3+ 2 years (or equivalent) in computer science may be admitted. Valid documentation is a statement from your institution that you are a registered PhD student, or a Master´s Diploma with Diploma Supplement / English translation of the diploma. PhD students are exempt from semester fee.

Language of instruction

The language of instruction is English and all of the syllabus material is in English. Examination questions will be given in English, but may be answered either in English or a Scandinavian language.

Teaching methods

Lectures: 30 hours, Colloquium: 30 hours, Laboratory guidance: 30 hours. 

Assessment

Oral exam counting 100%. Approved assignments give access to the final oral exam. 

Grading scale: "Passed" / "Not-passed"

Course requirements: The coursework includes up to 3 written assignments graded "Approved" / "Not approved". Oral presentation of the assignments and demonstration of a working system can be claimed. Participation in the seminars is mandatory.

(One of the assignments will be different for INF-8207 and INF-3910-4.)

Additional work for PhD students following INF-8207 (and not INF-3910-4):

PhD-students must:

Re-sit examination: It will not be given a re-sit examination in in this course.

Postponed examination: Students with valid grounds for absence will be offered a postponed an oral exam. If practically possible the exam is arranged during the semester as soon as the reasons for absence have ceased.
