Course contents
KNOWLEDGE:
The candidate¿
- Has broad knowledge of key themes, theories, issues, processes, tools and methods in the field of early stage business idea development, commercialization, creativity, product/service prototyping, business modeling, idea pitching, and financing applications.
- Know important organizations, financing institutions and other relevant actors in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship, both locally and domestically.
- Can refresh their knowledge in the field of innovation tools, such as Design Thinking, Lean Startup and Business Model Canvas.
- Know the research and development work in the field of early-stage start up companies.
SKILLS:
The candidate¿
- Can apply innovation tools such as Design Thinking, Lean Startup and Business Model Canvas in practical and theoretical settings.
- Can reflect on different innovation methodologies and critically evaluate them.
- Can find, assess and refer to information and course material.
- Can both orally and in writing present an early stage business idea in front of an investor-like audience.
- Can write an application to Innovation Norway for early stage funding for a business idea.
GENERAL COMPETENCE:
The candidate¿
- Can plan and implement a variety of innovation tools into start up projects that extend over time, alone and in groups, and in line with ethical requirements and guidelines.
- Can convey key course subject, such as Design Thinking, Lean Startup and Business Model Canvas, both orally in writing, and through other relevant forms of expression.
- Can exchange relevant views and experiences of Design Thinking, Lean Startup and Business Model Canvas with others, and thereby contribute to the development of good practice.
- Have competence on the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in the 21st century.

Teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, workshops, discussions and mentoring.
Assessment
The exam consists of three parts:
Case write-up (individual): 40%
Group presentation: 30%
Group hand-in: 30%
A graded scale of five marks from A to E for pass and F for fail.
There will not be arranged a re-sit exam for this course.
Place of exam: Tromsø.
Date for examination
Individual case write-up hand in date 08.06.2018;Group hand-in hand in date 31.05.2018
The date for the exam can be changed. The final date will be announced at your faculty early in May and early in November.
