Type of course

Course is designed for students enrolled in Bachelor in Northern Studies. 

Application deadline

Applicants from Nordic countries: 1 June for the autumn semester and 1 December for the spring semester.

Exchange students and Fulbright students: 1 October for the spring semester and 15 April for the autumn semester. 


Admission requirements

Admission requirements: Nordic applicants: Generell studiekompetanse International applicants: Higher Education Entrance Qualification and certified language requirements in English.

Objective of the course

Knowledge - Will be able to specialize in specific knowledge addressing the contemporary situation in the Barents region or Circumpolar World by writing a term paper.   Skills - the student will by this self-chosen topic get aquainted with how to systematically write an academic paper   designed to explain a specific phenomena or data regarding contemporary issues in the Barents Region of   Circumpolar World.  General competence - will be more aware of the process of knowledge production and concurrently the complexity of the   contemporary situation in the Barents region and the Circumpolar World.

Assessment

Course requirements: 

The topic of the assignment has to be approved by the responsible teacher. The student will get individual supervision on all drafts handed in during the semester.  Examination:   The size of the work is expected to constitute about 25 pages all included, written with letters in size 12, 1,5 space and 2,5 cm margins.   The exam form is written and home based.   Grading: scale A ¿ F, with F for failed.    The term paper has to be answered in English   Guidelines for re-sit examination:  Regulations for examinations at the UiT Chapter IV Postponed, re-sit and extraordinary examinations etc.

The date for the exam can be changed. The final date will be announced at your faculty early in May and early in November.
