Type of course
Course contents
Geometric optics: Image and image formation. Reflection at spherical mirrors, thin lenses. Principle of cameras and telescopes.
Physical optics: Radiative transfer in a turbid medium (exemplified by the atmosphere and/or ocean). Introduction to some properties, deriving the equation of radiative transfer (RTE). Analytical solutions of the RTE for some special cases. Writing a trivial Monte Carlo model which is used for numerical solutions of more general cases.
